Powell body protectors are designed to absorb the high levels of energy created when a rider falls from, is kicked by, or is stood on by a horse. Thereby reducing the risk of serious damage to the riders vital organs i.e. heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and spleen. The BETA 2009 and BS EN 13158 standards for horse riders body protectors are recognised by riding organisations throughout the world. This standard controls the area of the torso that must be covered by the body protector. The only difference between levers 1, 2 and 3 is the thickness of the protective foam.
This offers a low level of shock protection and has been developed for professional jockeys whilst racing. It is not suitable for use by the general public.
This offers moderate level of protection and is only suitable for use in very low risk situations. It is not suitable for general riding activities or competition.
This offers the highest level of protection the standard offers and is suitable for all normal riding activities, competitions and high risk situations.
